What's in a Name?

I love nicknames. We have nicknames for our kids and some of our friends. It is definitely something that our children have caught onto. The most interesting nickname in our house currently is the nickname for Joshua's shoes. Our children or one of the elementary kids on our street gave this pair of shoes its nickname: Can you guess their nickname? These shoes are called the "Yo Dude" shoes. Where do a bunch of kids come up with that nickname?

Sure, I could see a rapper wearing white Nikes (or adidas in the case of Run DMC), but that is an image from my youth. How would my kids be tapping into that? I am flummoxed by where they come up with these things.
