Mary was heavily involved in the Halloween party planning this year. Our family spent six hours there setting up for the party. Grace and Caleb set up most of the chairs for about 130 people to have dinner.
We helped clean up after the party. I was shuttling boxes out to the car and Caleb was helping mop the gym floor. As I walked out the gym, I heard the man he was helping say, "Don't be afraid to get the floor wet. Remember, water is the universal solvent..."
Regardless of Caleb's understanding of this comment, I love the fact that volunteer experiences can be a good chance to meet an interesting cross section of people. Well that, and the fact that Caleb might correctly answer a question about solvents.
